Relationships, to be specific, were at the heart of so many eye-opening and also foot-tapping moments, like Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild”, Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” and Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need”. See that—even superstars get frustrated. But it’s not as if they’re unwilling to share solutions, like on Kehlani’s “Folded”, a tale of letting go of that which does not serve you. So many of our faves saw fit to look inward this year, realising that’s where the magic is—like Lady Gaga on “Abracadabra”, or when BLACKPINK told us what true sisterhood feels (and sounds) like on “JUMP”. There were songs about loss (Bad Bunny’s “DtMF”), but just as frequently ones that celebrated what it means to be alive, our heroes enjoying the fruits of their labour, like Drake’s “NOKIA”, Clipse’s “Ace Trumpets” or CORTIS’ “GO!”. Like a conversation with a cherished friend, so many of the songs we loved in 2025 delivered wisdom, reflection and, inevitably, release. Natürlich hat es auch an Überraschungen nicht gefehlt: Ein Klassiker von Daddy Yankee tönte kurz auf, mit Ricky Martin gab sich ein weiterer puerto-ricanischer Superstar die Ehre, und auch Lady Gaga überzeugte mit einer Salsa-inspirierten Version ihres Hits „Die With A Smile“. Es hat von Anfang bis Ende einfach nur Spaß gemacht, bei dieser mitreißenden Performance zuzuschauen. Und ganz egal, aus welchem Blickwinkel man das Ganze betrachtet, besser hätte das große Finale der wohl atemberaubendsten Woche von Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasios bisherigem Leben nicht ablaufen können. For example, I want to go to bed earlier, read books, meditate, spend more time for myself so that my mind can be more peaceful. “And another special thing is that this is the time to plan music, to work with composers and other artists in the new year. This makes me feel very excited, because when working with talented artists, when I imagine what kind of spirit I’ll release songs with in the new year, these things give me more motivation and inspiration.” Is there a Tet tradition or ritual that helps you feel re-energised or refocused? “When it comes to Tet, my tradition is to travel, to go explore new things, new cultures, to refresh and expand my own world, from which I can learn more. What do you hope your fans take away from it? “The songs that I chose for this playlist are the songs that bring me back to old memories, remind me of random things that happened, things that made me happy and let me feel that life is truly beautiful.” As you grow your audience, what kind of momentum do you hope to build—not just in music, but personally as well? “I want to write songs that touch people’s hearts, that match their emotions and inner feelings. I dream of playing live shows for 50,000 or more in Vietnam, but I also want to organise smaller showcases so that everyone can come, put aside their worries and find a space where they can be themselves. My dream is to open up a world of my own and invite everyone in—a world full of love, music, emotions and light. A world that can make anyone feel comfortable and happy. “In my personal life, I always want to become a better version of myself, because I am someone who loves learning new things. Recently I have been learning a lot about songwriting, absorbing many great things from composers, by meeting them and understanding their mindsets. When working with them, I feel that I am becoming more mature, that I can do better.” If you could give one message to fans about stepping into the new year with momentum, what would it be? “I want to send everyone a message: If the past year didn’t go the way you wished, don’t stress or feel discouraged. Everything needs its own time, and everyone has their own pace, so we shouldn’t compare ourselves with anyone else. “Just be yourself, keep trying, improving and focus on things with discipline—you need to have passion for what you’re doing to make it happen. After cementing his adult identity as a sensitive singer who can make a meal of either comforting arrangements or edgy electronics, Bieber sounds equally at home on “STAY”—passing the torch of young talent to The Kid LAROI—and the beachy future soul of “Peaches”, both from 2021.
